MANILA, Philippines - A 29-year-old housemaid was jailed for allegedly stealing her employer’s two Rolex watches, valued at P1 million, in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Lea Calixto was arrested on Friday by members of Manila Police District’s theft and robbery section at a house in Cubao, Quezon City, where she had been allegedly hiding since Nov. 20.

Calixto worked as a stay-in maid of businessman Milton Lim before she left Lim’s house without permission Wednesday. When Lim checked his jewelry, he told police he discovered that two of his watches had gone missing.

Househelp Remedios Vergara, 40, told Lim that Calixto entered his bedroom. Lim reported the theft to the police.

Nearly three days after, investigators received a call that Calixto was hiding in Quezon City. Calixto will be charged with qualified theft.
