American nabbed for not paying restaurant bill

MANILA, Philippines - An American man was arrested for not paying his bill at a café in Malate, Manila Thursday night.

Barry Allan Granfield entered the Bay Café at around 11 p.m. and ordered food and liquor amounting to P1,956, according to waitress Emily dela Cruz.

When he was asked to pay the bill, Granfield allegedly told the waitress, “I don’t have money. I will pay tomorrow morning at 5 a.m. because I’m tired and need to rest.”

Granfield was brought to Manila Police District (MPD) general assignment section. The MPD said Granfield, who has no permanent address in the Philippines, will be charged with non-payment of bills before the Manila prosecutor’s office.
