2 Chinese nabbed in P37-M drug bust

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two Chinese were arrested in a drug bust in Quezon City yesterday for allegedly selling seven kilos of shabu and ecstasy tablets, with a street value of P37 million, to an undercover agent.

Qiao Wen Jiang, alias Boy Intsik, 37, a native of Fujian; and Xiao Xia Chai, 37, a woman, were arrested in front of a bar along Timog Avenue at past midnight, according to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency director general Arturo Cacdac Jr.

“We believed that the suspects, who neither speak English or Tagalog, or willfully done on purpose, are a couple. They could also be members of a transnational organized drug syndicate operating in the country,” he said.

Cacdac said both suspects are residents of Mayon street, Quezon City.

He said the shabu, placed inside resealable plastic bags, has an estimated street value of P35 million, while the ecstasy tablets contained in four plastic sachets are worth P2 million.

PDEA agents also confiscated from the suspects a black Mitsubishi Montero (TOK-248). The PDEA chief said the suspects will be charged for drug sale and possession
