Hairline crack found on MRT track

MANILA, Philippines - A hairline crack was discovered on the tracks of the 17-kilometer Metro Rail Transit (MRT) along EDSA, prompting authorities to scale down operations yesterday morning.

Authorities said the two-millimeter crack was discovered on the northbound track between the MRT’s Shaw Boulevard and Boni Avenue stations at around 6:55 a.m., disrupting operations for an hour.

The hairline crack was scheduled to be welded last night.
