Jail officer slain in QC

MANILA, Philippines - A jail officer was gunned down by motorcycle-riding attackers in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City at past midnight yesterday.

Jail Officer 2 Inocencio Velasquez, died on the spot from a gunshot wound in the head, said Inspector Elmer Monsalve, chief of the homicide investigation section of the Quezon City Police District.

Velasquez had just parked his motorcycle under a pedestrian overpass in front of the Diliman Doctors Hospital on Commonwealth Avenue when one of the gunmen shot him, Monsalve said.

Monsalve said they were still investigating the motive behind the attack and those who staged it.
