MANILA, Philippines - Activist priest Joe Dizon died at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute Monday night due to complications from diabetes. He was 65.

Dizon’s body was brought to the San Roque Cathedral in Caloocan City, said Bayan secretary general Renato Reyes. His remains will be transferred to his hometown of Imus, Cavite for the wake tomorrow.

Reyes said Dizon was a convenor of the election watchdog Kontra Daya, which pushed for the disqualification of bogus party-list groups in the 2007, 2010 and 2013 polls.

The last rally attended by Dizon was the Sept. 21 anti-pork protest at Rizal Park.
