Bilibid escapee back in jail

MANILA, Philippines - A fugitive who escaped from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa last year was arrested after he held up a woman in Manila Monday night.

Danilo de Vera was detained at the Manila Police District jail.

Superintendent Roderick Mariano, MPD Station 7 chief, said Jean Niegos was in a passenger jeepney plying the Divisoria-Monumento route when De Vera robbed her at 8:30 p.m.

After taking the victim’s belongings, the suspect ran toward Antipolo street in Tondo where he was nabbed by the police.

Police said De Vera was a member of Batang City Jail gang. He escaped from NBP medium security compound in 2012.
