MPD issues modified traffic advisory for Bar exams

Aie Balagtas See - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Police District has modified the traffic rerouting scheme for the Bar examinations, which will be held at the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) on the three remaining Sundays of October.

Manila police traffic head Chief Inspector Olivia Sagaysay, in an advisory issued Friday, said the southbound lane of España Boulevard from A.H. Lacson to P. Noval shall be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. onwards.

She added that the stretch of Dapitan street from A.H. Lacson to P. Noval streets will also be closed starting 8 a.m.

Motorists who intend to use España Boulevard’s southbound lane should turn right on A.H. Lacson, left on Laong Laan to Andalucia, Sagaysay said.

Those who intend to go through Dapitan street to reach Quiapo should turn right at A.H. Lacson, left on Laong Laan to Andalucia.

Sagaysay said the lane nearest the sidewalk on the northbound lane of España will be used as a parking area for journalists who will cover the Bar exams.

Sagaysay said 25 police officers and MMDA personnel were tasked to direct the flow of traffic. The ground commander is Chief Inspector Alejandro Pelias, she said.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court (SC) said its flood transport plan for the examinees remain in place.

SC and Court of Appeals buses will pick up and drop off Bar examinees and duty personnel at six designated points: the Quezon City Memorial Circle, Park and Ride in Lawton, the SC compound on Taft Avenue, Greenbelt and Glorietta in Makati, Coastal Mall in Parañaque, and the Marikina Sports Complex.

Two buses will be stationed at each area from 5 to 6 a.m. The scheme will be on a first come, first served basis.

“In order to avail of this service they must present their notice of admission, gate pass or ID, as the case may be to the bus driver before being allowed to board,” the SC said.

In case of flooding at the UST compound, the SC will also provide shuttle vans that will transport the examinees and personnel from the gate to their respective buildings.
