More cracks found on MRT tracks

Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) stopped operations during the afternoon rush hour yesterday after cracks were detected on the tracks.

MRT operations manager Renato San Jose said the cracks were found at the southbound tracks between the Santolan and Ortigas stations at past 4 p.m.

San Jose said this was the same section where cracks were also detected last Sept. 9. The MRT suspended operations in order to replace the cracked section of the tracks.

In yesterday’s incident, the MRT again suspended operations from North Avenue in Quezon City to Shaw Boulevard, and provisional operations continued from Shaw Boulevard to Pasay Taft.

The MRT resumed full operation by 5 p.m.
