NCRPO sacks 82 cops

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least 82 police officers, 13 of them officials, were removed from their posts in Metro Manila, an official said yesterday.

Chief Superintendent Dennis Peña, deputy director for operations of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the erring policemen will not be sanctioned but instead undergo retraining.

“They committed simple infractions... We are hoping that after their retraining they would regain their focus on their jobs that awaits them,” Peña said in an interview.

NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Marcelo Garbo Jr. caught the policemen having abandoned their outposts, being in improper uniform and being lax in performing their duty when he made unannounced inspections of police stations and outposts.

Peña said the 82 police officer are temporarily assigned to the Regional Police Holding and Administrative Unit at the NCRPO headquarters.
