2 fires break out in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - More than 40 houses were destroyed in two separate fires in Manila Tuesday night and yesterday.
Arson investigators said 35 houses in Paco were gutted after an unattended stove inside the house of Myrna Miclat, 93, sparked a fire.
Senior Police Officer 3 Manuel Gaspar said the fire broke out at 10:59 p.m. It reached second alarm before the blaze was declared under control at 12:03 a.m. yesterday.
The affected families are taking shelter at Asilo de San Vicente de Paul.
After an hour, another fire broke out at a residential area on Juan Luna street in Tondo, destroying at least 10 houses.
No one was hurt in the twin fires.
About P2 million worth of property was lost in the incidents, arson probers said.
