Man arrested for daughter’s 7-year abuse

MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested in Pasig City yesterday for repeatedly raping his 15-year-old daughter over the past seven years.

The man did not resist when social workers and police officers came to arrest him at his house.

Senior Police Officer 4 Digna Cas said a classmate of the victim noticed that she was silent and appeared to be problematic last Tuesday.

The victim told her classmate that before she went to school on Tuesday, her father dragged her into her room and raped her.

The victim and her classmate reported the rape to their teacher, who coordinated with local social workers and the police. Cas said the victim’s father admitted raping his daughter.

At the police station, the victim said her father started raping her in 2006, when she was eight years old, while her mother was at work. She told no one about the attacks after her father threatened to kill her.

The victim’s father is being held at the city police detention center while Cas is preparing appropriate charges against him.
