Pregnant Chinese poses as Pinay in Hong Kong

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A pregnant Chinese woman, in an apparent bid to avoid violating China’s one-child policy, pretended to be a Filipina when she tried to enter Hong Kong, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said yesterday.

Cai Quiye was deported back to Manila on Sept. 22 after she was caught using a fake Philippine passport bearing the name Aileen de Leon Abella when she tried to enter Hong Kong, BI officer-in-charge Siegfred Mison said.

Cai, who is six months pregnant with her second child, admitted paying a “Mr. Chen” in Manila P200,000 in return for the fake passport, said BI acting intelligence chief Jose Carlitos Licas.

Hong Kong is exempt from China’s one-child policy.

Cai said her husband traveled with her to Hong Kong but they parted ways after she was denied entry at the airport, Licas said.

Mison said Cai will be deported to China as soon as the BI board of commissioners issues an order for  her deportation.
