Pacquiao, Kris take MRT

MANILA, Philippines - Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao and presidential sister Kris Aquino rode the crowded Metro Rail Transit (MRT) to avoid heavy traffic Tuesday night.

Pacquiao walked the extra mile to honor a commitment when a downpour caused flooding and traffic jams in the metropolis.

He was heading north to grace a Christian fellowship of the ABS-CBN network when his convoy got stuck in traffic as they came out of Forbes Park.

The congressman from Sarangani was getting late for the 7 p.m. commitment so he decided to take the MRT in Ayala.

“We saw the traffic and he decided that we all take the MRT,” said Jojo Sta. Teresa, one of Pacquiao’s bodyguards.

Commuters took the opportunity to take pictures and videos of him.

They got off at the MRT Kamuning station, where a vehicle, provided by the TV network, waited for the boxer.

But traffic was at a standstill and the highway was like a parking lot, prompting Pacquiao to walk a couple of blocks to the ABS-CBN compound on Sgt. Esguerra street.

Meanwhile, Kris was forced to take the MRT to host an event at Shangri-La mall.
