Man arrested for cameraman’s accidental shooting
MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested yesterday for accidentally killing his friend, an assistant cameraman at GMA-7, with an improvised shotgun.
Emard Ulanday, 31, was arrested outside his house in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City. He yielded an improvised shotgun.
Ulanday was identified as the man who shot dead GMA Network assistant cameraman Kenneth Paule, 38, at the San Beda compound near Ulanday’s residence at past 7 p.m. Tuesday, said Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano.
According to Ulanday, Paule was carrying the shotgun when they were together that night. He said Paule had seen a police patrol team pass by and handed him the shotgun.
The two men had their backs against each other when Paule handed over the improvised shotgun to the suspect. Ulanday claimed that only when Paule moved away that the gun suddenly went off. Ulanday said he fled the area out of panic.
Amelia Sison, a friend of the two men, told police the suspect rushed to her house and told her he accidentally shot Paule.
