MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) assured the public yesterday that the violence in Zamboanga City will not spill over to Metro Manila.
Authorities have set up appropriate measures to prevent members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) from leaving Zamboanga and attacking other areas, PNP public information office chief Senior Superintendent Reuben Sindac said.
He added that the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines are on top of the situation in Zamboanga City, where armed followers of MNLF chairman Nur Misuari held residents of three barangays hostage after a failed attempt to take over the city hall Monday.
The PNP urged the public to provide information to help authorities solve the conflict as soon as possible. Any information can be sent to the PNP hotline 117 and 116 in Zamboanga City, cell phone number 0906-3680749 and Twitter account @ireportangkrimen.
