3 killed, 1 hurt in war between drug gangs

MANILA, Philippines - A man alleged to be a drug gang leader and his two reported cohorts were killed and their companion was wounded when they were shot by members of a rival drug gang in Novaliches, Quezon City Sunday afternoon.

Tony Tua was known as a leader of a drug group operating in his neighborhood in Barangay Gulod, according to Superintendent Norberto Babagay, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 4.

Tua and two of his known underlings – Bernard Apostol, 36, and Mohamed Eto, 30 – were killed during a confrontation with members of a rival drug group at past 2 p.m. Sunday.

Tua’s other companion, Emran Panayaman, survived the shooting.

Tua’s gang was accused by their rivals, believed to be led by “Tahir,” of working with police, Babagay said.

One of the suspects in the shooting was identified as Nasir Duiandel, who is known to work for Tahir.
