Army officer arrested for trouble in bar

MANILA, Philippines - An Army captain was arrested after he allegedly sprayed tear gas at the dance floor of a bar in Cubao, Quezon City before dawn yesterday, causing panic among customers.

Licerio Tirso Plan, 42, of Sampaloc, Manila, underwent inquest proceedings for alarm and scandal, said Police Officer 2 Dennis Llapitan.

Plan was arrested following a commotion at the branch of Padi’s Point in Araneta Center. The manager told police the bar lost money after customers rushed out without paying for their food and drinks after a small canister of teargas was sprayed and thrown on the dance floor.

Plan was with Army 2Lt. Ramon Angelio at the bar. Two customers claimed seeing Plan spray tear gas while he was on the dance floor before the two Army officers went out.

Because of this, the two customers approached the bar’s bouncer and told him what they saw. The bouncer detained Plan, who denied having used the tear gas canister.
