Woman stabbed dead by stepson

MANILA, Philippines - A 35-year-old woman was stabbed dead by the son of her live-in partner in Quezon City Tuesday afternoon.

Arlene Serrano died before reaching East Avenue Medical Center where she was rushed after being stabbed by her stepson inside their house in Barangay Central at around 5:20 p.m., said SPO1 Cristituto Zaldarriaga of the Quezon City Police District.

Zaldarriaga identified the suspect as Mark June Cuevas, of legal age, who immediately escaped after the incident.

Initial investigation showed the victim was having a conversation with her friends when the suspect entered the house and stabbed her several times using a kitchen knife.

Serrano died from multiple stab wounds on different parts of her body, police said.

Police are conducting follow-up operation to locate the suspect, whose motive for stabbing Serrano has yet to be determined.
