Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A passenger bus went up in flames along EDSA yesterday.

According to the Metrobase of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), a Cher Transit bus (TYF 984) caught fire at EDSA’s Ayala northbound approaching the Buendia loading bay at 11:14 a.m.

Firefighters from the Makati City Central Fire Station rushed to the site as MMDA personnel blocked the service road leading to the bus.

Bus driver Alan Camarong said smoke engulfed the bus as he pulled over and stopped near a gas station in the area.

There were no casualties in the incident since all passengers, including Camarong and the bus conductor managed to get off the bus.

Firefighters have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which was put out at 11:33 a.m.
