Prostitute, pimps arrested for theft

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Three women were arrested in Quezon City before dawn yesterday for allegedly stealing two cell phones and a wallet from a man as they groped him, offering to have sex with him for money.

Victim Joni Bradecina, 23, was walking along a footbridge at the intersection of EDSA and Aurora Boulevard at past 1 a.m. yesterday when the women approached him.

“The three women were offering him sexual pleasure but little did he know that his belongings were already being nicked,” said Superintendent Ramon Pranada, commander of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 7.

Bradecina declined the offer made by “prostitute” Alexis Vargas and “pimps” Christine Alejandro and Shaurine Perez, who were groping him, Pranada said.

â€œThe three women were still insistent and the prostitute even embraced the victim,” he said.

As the two pimps were distracting the victim, the sex worker managed to steal the man’s two cellular phones and wallet, which contained P3,000. The three women later walked away.

Moments later, the man noticed he had been victimized, prompting him to seek police assistance.

QCPD director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano said policemen positioned by the footbridge managed to arrest the three women and recover the stolen items. He said the three women are facing theft charges.

Hours later, two men were arrested after allegedly robbing a woman as she was about to climb the same footbridge, Pranada said.

Archie Sulit and Rodolfo Odtuhan were apprehended after taking 40-year-old Carolina Castro’s cell phone at knifepoint at around 6 a.m., he said.
