MANILA, Philippines - Investigators have a suspect in the killing of two officials of a tabloid in Quezon City Tuesday night, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano said yesterday.
According to Albano, they were looking into the possibility that the killing of Bonifacio Loreto Jr, 47, publisher of Aksyon Ngayon; and Richard Kho, 59, executive editor of the same publication, was not related to their work.
Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said a witness identified one of two armed men behind the attack, but declined to divulge the man’s identity until he is arrested.
Marcelo said both victims wrote columns for the publication, which reportedly had only one issue so far.
The two victims were talking in front of Loreto’s store in Barangay Commonwealth when the two attackers shot them repeatedly, killing them on the spot.
