MANILA, Philippines - A 50-year-old woman was shot when she tried to prevent her son-in-law from beating up her daughter in Malabon yesterday morning.
Helen Tuldanes, a resident of Barangay Tinajeros, was reported to be in critical condition at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.
According to a report by Senior Police Officer 4 Ferdinand Espiritu, Tuldanes’ son-in-law, Rodel Puti, arrived at their house at around 10:30 a.m. reeking of liquor.
It was not clear what triggered an argument between Puti and his wife, Lani, but when the suspect started hitting his wife, Tuldanes tried to intervene.
Puti reportedly took out a homemade gun and shot his mother-in-law. He fled with the weapon and is now the subject of a manhunt, Espiritu said.
