House of cop in Letran player’s ambush raided

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Police raided yesterday the house of a policeman tagged by Letran Knights point guard Franz Dysam as behind the ambush that left his live-in partner dead in San Juan City last Saturday.

However, PO2 Rolando de Guzman has moved out of his residence at 71 A. Del Rosario street in Marulas, Valenzuela City, according to City police chief Senior Superintendent Bernard Tambaoan.

Neighbors interviewed by Tambaoan said De Guzman and his family transferred to another place months ago.

De Guzman, who is reportedly suffering from a kidney disease, is presently detailed at the Headquarters Support Service (HSS) of the Philippine National Police.

“He is reporting only on the 15th and 30th of the month because he is now frail and weak due to his dialysis, which is three times a week,” Tambaoan said in an interview.

De Guzman was previously assigned at the anti-drug unit of the Caloocan City police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force of the PNP.

Tambaoan said they are readying charges against De Guzman based on the statement of Dysam.

Tambaoan said they would stick to their early theory that love triangle was the motive behind the wounding of Dysam, 24, and the killing his girlfriend, Joan Sordan, 33.

He said there is no evidence that betting on basketball game could be the reason behind the attack on Dysam.

Sordan’s grandmother said in a TV interview that betting could have something to do with the ambush.

Officials of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, however, dismissed this.
