Gov’t to buy P7.9-M tires for Army vehicles

MANILA, Philippines - The government will spend P7.86 million to buy 1,500 sets of brand new tires for the Philippine Army’s vehicles.

A bid bulletin published on The STAR yesterday showed that the tires would be acquired through the Philippine International Trading Corp. (PITC), a state-run firm formed to ensure cost-effective procurement service for the government.

The PITC and the Army are now inviting bidders for the acquisition of the 700x15 12 PR Lug Type tires.

The bidding will be open to local and foreign manufacturers, dealers, distributors and resellers. Foreign firms, however, should be represented by a Philippine-based company.
To be qualified, a prospective bidder should have completed, within the last five years from the submission of bids, at least one contract amounting to at least 25 percent of the approved budget for the tires.

The bids must be submitted on or before Aug. 14 at the National Development Co. building lobby in Makati. The NDC, an investment vehicle of the government, owns 99.5 percent of PITC.
