Woman charged for failing to arrange marriage

MANILA, Philippines - A woman was charged with estafa after she allegedly received a total of P258,000 but failed to deliver on her promise to bring a woman to Canada by having her marry a Canadian citizen.

Public school teacher Anastacia Catayong filed a complaint with the Quezon City fiscal’s office against  Edna de Guzman Iskander, according to Police Officer 3 Modestino Juanson.

Iskander allegedly claimed to be married to a Canadian and promised to arrange a marriage for Catayong’s daughter to a Canadian national so that her child could live in Canada.
