LTFRB amends routes of South Luzon buses
MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has amended the routes of buses from Southern Luzon in preparation for an integrated terminal system in Metro Manila.
In a memorandum circular, the board stated that all provincial buses from Southern Luzon entering via Coastal Road and/or Manila-Cavite Expressway shall end their routes at the Southwest Interim Transport Terminal at the Coastal Mall in Baclaran, Parañaque.
LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez said the interim terminal would be in preparation for the “integrated transport system.†The government wants permanent terminals in the south, southwest and northern parts of Metro Manila to be operational by 2016. The Parañaque interim terminal is in the southwest.
The board also said city buses, whose routes are near or adjacent to the interim terminal shall pass through it to facilitate the transfer of passengers.
In an interview, Ginez said this shall take effect on Aug. 5.
The board warned bus firms that if they are found violating the circular, their franchises shall be cancelled “after due notice and hearing.â€
The circular was signed by Ginez, board member Ronaldo Corpuz and board executive director and officer-in-charge Roberto Cabrera III.
