Boy, 10, hit by stray bullet in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines - A 10-year-old boy was hit by a stray bullet fired during a brawl between two warring street fraternities in Camarin, Caloocan City Thursday afternoon.

Gabriel Valero was playing in front of his house on Melchora Aquino street in Barangay 178 at around 5 p.m. when the group of Arturo Espanol, 18, arrived and engaged a rival fraternity in a free-for-all.

Witnesses Ramon Christopher Estanco and Gerald Vin Carsola identified Espanol as the person who reportedly fired the bullet that hit Valero.

The boy was reported to be in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital while Espanol was arrested in a follow-up operation.
