MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) will a have a new chief tomorrow after its chief, Director Leonardo Espina, was promoted to the fourth highest post in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima is set to install Chief Superintendent Marcelo Garbo Jr. as the NCRPO’s new director in a simple ceremony tomorrow.

Garbo is currently the chief of the Central Visayas (Region 7) and was credited with the peaceful implementation of the suspension of then Cebu governor Gwen Garcia.

Garbo was a classmate of Purisima and Espina in the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1981. He replaced Espina, who was appointed to the chief of the PNP’s Directorial Staff.

The post has been occupied by Director Napoleon Estilles in concurrent capacity for a month. Estilles, a lawyer with a doctoral degree in public administration, is the chief of the Directorate for Plans.

Espina has taken over his new post during a simple turnover ceremony.

Before the NCRPO and TCDS, Espina served as the PNP’s spokesman and head of the Highway Patrol Group.
