Model, pal charged for abortion

MANILA, Philippines - Police have filed charges against a freelance model for allegedly aborting her child, and her male friend who helped her get out of the hospital by posing as a policeman.

The 24-year-old woman, of Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City, was slapped with a case for abortion before city prosecutor’s office. Her friend is facing a complaint for usurpation of authority and obstruction of justice.

PO3 Jaime de Jesus said doctors at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center found out that the woman aborted her baby last July 2 with the help of a “hilot” when she was rushed to the hospital for bleeding.

She told police she was more than six weeks pregnant.

Police said the woman was discharged from the hospital after her friend paid the bills.
