Erap sacks 2 more MPD officials

Aie Balagtas See - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada yesterday ordered the relief of two more officials of the Manila Police District (MPD).

Sacked were Superintendent Ernesto Tendero Jr., chief of the Moriones police station, and MPD’s traffic head Superintendent Rey Nava.

MPD chief Superintendent Isagani Genabe Jr. said Nava was removed from his post for his failure to solve the traffic situation in the city.

Tendero, on the other hand, was axed over complaints that he was extorting money from vendors.

Tendero also has supervision over a school in Tondo where alleged members of the Moro National Liberation Front created ruckus last elections.

Last Monday, Estrada ordered the relief of MPD Station 11 commander Superintendent Alex Navarette over alleged complaints of corruption from street vendors.

Lim as Erap’s adviser: No way

Estrada yesterday rejected the idea of working with former mayor Alfredo Lim as his adviser.

“Hindi na baka lalong lumubog ang Maynila, (Never mind, Manila might sink even more),” Estrada said in a television interview.

Estrada blamed Lim for the city’s financial woes as well as crime and flooding problems.

Lim was earlier quoted in a news report that he is willing to help Estrada in his efforts to rehabilitate the city.
