Perseus Echeminada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least 31 persons were injured when the bus they were riding went out of control and rear-ended another bus in Makati City shortly before midnight Thursday.

The Roval Transit bus was traveling on EDSA’s southbound lane at high speed when its driver, Alexander Aquino, lost control and the vehicle hit the rear of the Partas bus, Makati police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban said.

He added that all 30 Roval Transit bus passengers suffered injuries and were brought to the nearest hospital. The Partas bus’ 17 passengers were unharmed.

“At least five victims were advised to undergo a CT scan,” Lukban said.

Aquino fled after the accident and is the subject of a police manhunt, he said.

Investigators are preparing to charge Aquino with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and abandonment.
