MANILA, Philippines - A 45-year-old Qatari man, who arrived in the country a few days ago to visit a friend, was found dead in his hotel room in Makati City shortly before noon Thursday.

Grace Aceble found her friend, Saed Hamman Al Fahad, unconscious when she paid him a visit at his room in the Makati Palace Hotel, city police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban said. Fahad was already dead when rescue workers arrived at the hotel.

Aceble said Fahad has been visiting the country in the past two years, but was recently hospitalized for two months in Doha for kidney trouble.

Lukban said investigators found vials of insulin and maintenance medicine for hypertension, kidney problems and diabetes in Fahad’s room.
