Pinay beaten to death by Malaysian husband
MANILA, Philippines - A Filipina died after she was severely beaten by her Malaysian husband, according to an embassy report.
The Philippine embassy in Kuala Lumpur reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) that the embassy was informed by the Royal Malaysian Police in Johor state last June 4 that a Filipina was pronounced dead at Sultanah Aminah Hospital after three days in a coma.
“The embassy was further informed by the investigating officer that the cause of death of the Filipina was the blunt abdominal trauma, which was believed to have been caused by severe beating,†DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said Friday.
The suspect is the Filipina’s husband, who is currently detained at the police station in Johor pending the conclusion of the investigation.
“Our embassy in Kuala Lumpur continues close coordination with the Royal Malaysian Police in Johor Bahru and other relevant Malaysian authorities on the investigation into the case. It is also making representations for the immediate repatriation of her remains,†Hernandez said in a press briefing.
“We have already expressed to her family that we are ready to provide the necessary and appropriate assistance to ensure that justice will be served,†he said.
