MANILA, Philippines - The board of directors of the Light Rail Transit Authority has elected Honorito Chaneco as LRTA administrator.
LRTA sources said President Aquino appointed Chaneco to the LRTA last April 1.
Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya was said to have recommended Chaneco to the post. Abaya and Chaneco were classmates at the Philippine Science High School.
Before his appointment to the LRTA board of directors, Chaneco was assistant general manager for Land Development, Construction Management and Technical Services of the Philippine Reclamation Authority. PRA general manager and chief executive officer Peter Anthony Abaya is a brother of the DOTC chief.
The LRTA post was left vacant with the resignation of Rafael Rodriguez on March 30, 2012.
