Woman killed in hit-and-run

MANILA, Philippines - A woman died after being hit by a speeding jeepney while she was walking along a road in Quezon City Friday night.

Witnesses said the jeepney driver did not stop after hitting Thelma Ouano, 74, in front of a gasoline station along Tindalo street in Barangay Quirino 2-B at around 8 p.m. Friday, Senior Police Officer 4 Henry Se said.

Ouano died at the East Avenue Medical Center, where she was brought by city government rescue workers, around three hours later.

Se said no one was able to take note of the jeepney’s license plate number.
