Cayetano defeats Tiñga in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines - Re-electionist Mayor Ma. Laarni “Lani” Cayetano, wife of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, won another term as mayor of Taguig City, defeating her opponent Rebecca “Rica” Tiñga by a wide margin.

Cayetano was proclaimed winner after the Commission on Elections finished canvassing the votes at 2 a.m. yesterday.

She garnered 122,824 votes as against Tiñga’s 74,009 votes.

Taguig has 325,498 registered voters and 28 barangays.

Also proclaimed winner was Cayetano’s running mate Ricardo Cruz.

Cayetano and her team ran under the Nacionalista Party while Tiñga and her ticket ran under the Kilusang Diwa ng Taguig banner.

Her brother-in-law Lino Cayetano was also proclaimed winner as representative of the city’s second district.
