MANILA, Philippines - A woman was killed while her son and his friend were hurt after three of their neighbors attacked them in Quezon City on Sunday night.

Luisa Bartolabac, 51, died upon arrival at the Far Eastern University Hospital due to gunshot wounds in her legs.

Her 24-year-old son Edward and his friend, Mike Anthony Perez, 24, survived the bullets meant for them. Edward was hit in the chest and left leg while Perez was hit in the buttocks. Both are confined at the East Avenue Medical Center.

A witness said he was talking with Edward and Perez in a nipa hut near Edward’s house in Barangay Commonwealth at around 8 p.m. when the suspects – two of them identified only as Elias and Macmac – shot at them.

Police Officer 2 Marlon dela Vega said the victims and the suspects had a heated argument earlier in the day over unspecified reasons.
