Cops foil bank rob try in Bicutan

MANILA, Philippines - Police foiled an attempt by a robbery group to break into a bank in Bicutan, Parañaque City following the arrest of six suspected members of the Batangas-Romblon-Leyte robbery gang Friday.

The suspects were nabbed by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), and the Southern Police District (SPD) at around 2:30 p.m. along the South Superhighway service road in Bicutan.

Seized from the suspects were five pistols and a hand grenade.

Police also recovered a motorcycle (2261-DQ) the suspects allegedly planned to use as one of their get-away vehicles.

Charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives and violation of the election gun ban have been filed against the suspects, police said.
