BI passes red tape survey
MANILA, Philippines - Often perceived as a corruption-ridden agency, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has made a turnaround when it passed the Civil Service Commission (CSC) red tape survey last month.
Based on the CSC survey, BI Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said the BI main office in Manila obtained a final score of 87.54 percent with a descriptive rating of “good.â€
The survey focused on the BI’s frontline services delivery, service quality, physical working condition, and overall client satisfaction.
“This is a welcome development that will boost the morale of our employees and inspire us to further improve our services to the transacting public,†David said.
He said the bureau is bent to obtain a higher score in the next CSC survey.
The BI received a 90.14 percent rating for its compliance with the provisions of the anti-red tape act and 85.58 percent for overall client satisfaction.
It also passed its test in all sub-areas on complying with the anti-red tape act (ARTA) and even got a perfect score in the “wearing of IDs/nameplates, no hidden costs and no lunch break.â€
Earlier, the CSC reported that at least 150 government offices failed its test for lacking compliance with the ARTA.
