MANILA, Philippines - A bank janitor nabbed for allegedly stealing an automated teller machine (ATM) card in Malabon City Wednesday night has an outstanding arrest warrant for killing a woman in Quezon City in 2008.

Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 217 Judge Santiago Arenas issued an arrest warrant dated Dec. 27, 2011 against Aaron Dematera Consular, who is facing a murder charge for shooting Evangeline Fullante-Perez on Nov. 27, 2008.

Consular – whose first and middle names in the Malabon City police records were spelled as “Aron Dematira” – was arrested by patrolling policemen after allegedly stealing the ATM card of Vernadette Ramos from an ATM booth along J.P. Rizal street.

He reportedly took the ATM card after Ramos left the booth to seek a security guard’s assistance when she noticed that the keypad was lathered with glue. The victim told investigators that it was Consular who advised her to find a security guard to ask for help.

Police officers confiscated Ramos’ ATM card and a knife from Consular.

Senior Police Officer 1 Eduardo Tribana of the Malabon police said they are convinced the suspect in the ATM card theft is the same man wanted for murder.

Consular said his address is 16 Maningning street while the arrest warrant listed the fugitive’s address as 15 Maning-ning street, both in Novaliches.

Tribana said Consular denied killing Fullante-Perez.
