MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City policeman who was punched by former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) import Jamelle Cornley last March landed anew in the hospital yesterday, this time a hit-and-run victim.
Police Officer 2 Anzelmo Lazatin, a member of the Quezon City Police District-Station 10, was the victim in a hit-and-run incident at past 11 a.m. at the corner of V. Luna and East Avenues in Barangay Pinyahan, according to QCPD director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano.
Lazatin remains confined at the East Avenue Medical Center.
Senior Inspector Erlito Renegin, head of the QCPD-Traffic Sector 3, said the police officer was hit by a black Toyota Corolla with plate number ZNF-552.
A check conducted by The STAR with the Land Transportation Office showed that the sedan was registered to Eagle Cement Corp. in Mandaluyong.
Lazatin was driving his motorcycle on his way home along East Avenue when he was hit by the car.
The unidentified driver reportedly sped off after the accident. Personnel of the city hall’s Department of Public Order and Safety brought Lazatin to the hospital.
