1 dead, 3 hurt in Makati mishap

MANILA, Philippines - A bus conductor was killed and three other persons were injured when a passenger bus slammed into a 10-wheeler truck parked along Osmeña Highway in Makati City at past midnight yesterday.

A dzBB report identified the fatality as Ricky Monto, a conductor of Jac Liner. Police officers are searching for bus driver Policarpio Ilagan, who fled after the accident. Two truck helpers and one bus passenger were rushed to the Ospital ng Makati for treatment of their injuries.

According to initial reports, the bus was cruising along the highway’s northbound lane at around 1 a.m. when it hit the truck, which was parked on the kerb due to a flat tire.

Traffic investigators are preparing to charge Ilagan with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries.
