Woman shot by family driver dies

MANILA, Philippines - The woman who was attacked, reportedly by her family driver, at her house in Quezon City died in the hospital on Friday night.

Cindy Nakayama, 49, died at past 6 p.m. Friday at the New Era Hospital hours after she was shot in the head with an improvised shotgun, Police Officer 2 Romeo Nino said.

Nakayama was attacked in her second floor bedroom at past midnight on Friday.

Her daughter, Christine, 15, and her cousin Elvira Umbas, 56, sustained defensive wounds on their arms after being slashed and stabbed with bladed weapons. Umbas also sustained a shallow stab wound in the chest.

Nino said police officers are still searching for Nakayama’s driver, Mark Andrew Dalde, and his two unidentified companions.
