6 cops charged for women’s kidnap
MANILA, Philippines - Six policemen were charged with illegal detention and robbery-extortion yesterday for allegedly raiding a house without a warrant and kidnapping two women in Muntinlupa City.
Police Officer 2 Herminigildo Gajeto Jr., assigned at the Southern Police District (SPD), and PO1 Ryan Manga of the Police Community Precinct 11 in Parañaque City are in police custody while investigators are tracking down PO2 Michel Marcos and PO2 Domingo Abarico, both of the SPD Holding Office; PO2 Rigor Octaviano of the Pasay City police; and PO1 Dennis Quinto of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Regional Police Holding Administrative Unit (RPHAU).
Philippine National Police chief Director General Alan Purisima commended the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), led by Senior Superintendent Renato Gumban, for arresting Gajeto and Manga and rescuing Jennilind Rodriguez and her companion.
NCRPO chief Director Leonardo Espina ordered the conduct of summary dismissal proceedings against the six policemen.
Reports reaching Espina stated that the six policemen arrested Rodriguez and her companion in Muntinlupa City Wednesday on drug charges. They brought the two women to the RPHAU barracks in Camp Bagong Diwa, where they reportedly demanded that her relatives pay P40 million for her release.
Senior Superintendent Mitch Filart, who heads the NCRPO’s regional investigation and detective management division, said it was not the first time that Manga and Gajeto arrested Rodriguez on drug charges.
