Pregnant woman kills lover over missing P10

MANILA, Philippines - Fed up with regular beating, a 20-year-old woman ended her misery by stabbing to death her live-in partner in Manila Tuesday morning.

Leopoldo Tioson, 32, died from a lone stab wound inflicted by Nel Jessa Nivera, who was five months pregnant with their third child.

Nivera told The STAR that Tioson had been beating her for no reason at all.

She said Tioson scolded her at 10 a.m. for his missing P10, which she used to buy food. 

Nivera said Tioson took a stick and started beating her.

She rushed to the kitchen where she got hold of a knife. She warned Tioson not to hit her but the latter ignored her, prompting the pregnant Nivera to stab him in the buttocks.

Police Officer 3 Anthony Boncan said Nivera was arrested by operatives of the Manila Police District homicide section headed by Senior Police Officer 1 Amelito Lopez.

Murder charges will be filed against Nivera with the Manila prosecutor’s office.
