Furniture maker killed in Malabon

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A furniture maker was shot dead while he was sleeping in his house in Malabon City before dawn yesterday.

Senior Inspector Jaime Desiderio said victim Potter Elpides, 34, was sleeping beside his wife when two armed men knocked at their door in Barangay Catmon around 4 a.m.

Desiderio said Elpides’ wife opened the door, giving one of the men a chance to peer inside and point a gun at Elpides. The wife was able to parry the gun, but the other man was able to shoot at the victim, said the police officer.

Elpides died on the spot from gunshot wounds in his head and chest.

Police have yet to determine the identities of Elpides’ killers, who walked away after the shooting.
