MANILA, Philippines - A Manila policeman was arrested in Caloocan City at past midnight Saturday for allegedly violating the election gun ban.
Aside from violating the Omnibus Election Code, Police Officer 1 Reynaldo Fortaliza of the Manila Police District Station 5 will face grave threats and illegal possession of firearms charges, said Chief Inspector Bernabe Embile.
Embile said Fortaliza was arrested following the complaint of Maricar Mallari, who claimed that the police officer pointed his gun at her along P. Zamora street in Caloocan City.
Mallari, who was on her way home, said Fortaliza was irked after she answered no when he asked her if she knew him.
The victim said the suspect was pacified by his unidentified companions, giving her the opportunity to seek the assistance of the police.
Investigators said Fortaliza was reportedly drunk when the incident happened. Police officers seized a .45 caliber handgun, a magazine and 10 bullets from Fortaliza.
