PCSO probes lotto agent for e-selling

Perseus Echeminada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is investigating a lotto agent for reportedly selling lotto tickets through text messages and the Internet, an official said yesterday.

PCSO general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II said they have summoned World Reliance Trading Corp. to explain. He said WRTC is not authorized to sell lotto tickets via text or the Internet and they are not supposed to receive payment through electronic means.

Rojas said the operations of regular lotto games are closely monitored by the Commission on Audit to ensure that sales and expenses are fully accounted.

Rojas said they have directed WRTC to suspend this “mode of selling lotto tickets pending the result of our investigation and meeting.”
