70 barangay heads back Lim-Veloso tandem

MANILA, Philippines - At least 70 barangay chairpersons from Manila’s fifth district reportedly pledged yesterday to support Mayor Alfredo Lim, who is seeking re-election, and his running mate, District 6 Councilor Lou Veloso, in the May elections.

In a statement, the chairpersons said they chose Lim over his opponent, former President Joseph Estrada, because he is a “true blue” Manileño.

They also said they approve of Lim’s peace and order program and support his all-out campaign against all forms of illegal activities, including gambling.
